Allan was born in Swansea in 1956. He started his art education at Swansea School of Art, later moving to Coventry to complete his studies at Lancaster Art Faculty from 1973-1976.

After leaving Lancaster he became a graphic designer, illustrating books and producing book covers for publishers. However his passion for painting became a dominant and driving force, which made him leave graphics and concentrate on Fine Art.

His diversity as an artist has enabled him to paint still life, figurative, landscapes and seascapes. His style was generally impressionistic but has developed into abstraction of subject matter.

During the last decade his work has been published in, print and card format by publishers such as: Paper House, Elgin Court, Woodmansterne, Rembrandts Hat and Museums & Galleries.

His paintings have sold throughout Europe and America and his work has been exhibited through numerous galleries including: Richmond Gallery, Albany Gallery, Sommerton Gallery and John Campbell Gallery.
